It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Bay ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Pearl River Central Blue Devils 14-13. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Bea Buice - 2027 was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Buice - 2027 was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases.
In other batting news, Devin Bourgeois - 2025 was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-6. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Aurora Harper - 2026, who scored three runs and stole Two bases.
Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for Bay and bumps their season record up to 2-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Pearl River Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2-1.
Looking ahead, Bay will head out on the road to take on Picayune at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bay has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Pearl River Central, they will be playing at home against Our Lady Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
