Football Recap: Kopperl Eagles vs. Hill County Wolves
Kopperl had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Hill County Wolves, posting a 51-6 win on the road. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Christian Falk had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 42 yards and a touchdown. Isaac Payen was in the mix as well, providing Kopperl with two touchdowns.
Kopperl's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Hunter Johnson and Bearon Brinkley. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards.
Despite the loss, Hill County saw an underclassman step up: Tristan Knight rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Knight got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 54 yards.
Kopperl will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Mount Calm at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mount Calm focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Hill County, they will challenge Jubilee Lake View University Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
