Baseball Game Preview: West Florence Knights vs. Andrew Jackson Volunteers

The West Florence Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Andrew Jackson Volunteers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Florence is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Tuesday, West Florence was able to grind out a solid victory over Lugoff-Elgin, taking the game 11-8.

The team relied heavily on Newt Hinson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Evan Deas, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson fell victim to Rock Hill and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 14-0 to the Bearcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Volunteers in their meetings with the Bearcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Andrew Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Florence, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

West Florence took their victory against Andrew Jackson when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Florence since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
