Basketball Recap: Capitan Comes Up Short

Capitan lost against Lordsburg on February 8th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Capitan Tigers were dealt a 61-30 loss at the hands of the Lordsburg Mavericks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since January 18th.

Valerie Guerrero went supernova for Lordsburg, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Lordsburg is 5-1 when Guerrero posts eight or more boards, but 8-10 otherwise. Pamela Salcido was another key player, putting up two points and nine rebounds.

Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Lordsburg, their record now sits at 13-11.

Capitan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lordsburg, they have already played their next contest, a 58-47 defeat against Mescalero Apache on the 26th.
