Volleyball Recap: Sacred Heart Falls Short Against Ranked Brentwood

Sacred Heart is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Brentwood. The Valkyries took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins. The Valkyries were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Sacred Heart was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-23.

Taylor Frey paced Sacred Heart's offense, picking up six kills. Frey got some help from Cate Bakken and her 13 assists. Taylor Berger controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Sacred Heart and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Brentwood, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Sacred Heart has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Farragut on the 23rd. As for Brentwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against William Blount on the 23rd.
