Softball Recap: Covenant Christian Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Covenant Christian's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on Wednesday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves with a sharp 14-3 victory. Considering the Warriors have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ariannah Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Covenant Christian got a massive performance out of Julia Hoffman, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Hoffman has posted since back in April of 2024. Emmy Nottingham was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Covenant Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Covenant Christian pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Covenant Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on the 15th. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Heritage Christian on the 15th.
