Basketball Game Preview: Deep Run Wildcats vs. Freeman Mavericks

Having just played yesterday, the Deep Run Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Freeman Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Deep Run is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 30, 2024 on Thursday. They took a blow against Glen Allen, falling 70-37. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Freeman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Godwin.

Freeman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Deep Run, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Deep Run didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Freeman in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Deep Run since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
