Baseball Game Preview: Hasbrouck Heights Aviators vs. Hackensack Comets

The Hasbrouck Heights Aviators will face off against the Hackensack Comets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hasbrouck Heights will be strutting in after a victory while Hackensack will be coming in after a defeat.

Hasbrouck Heights' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Garfield as they made off with a 17-0 win. The game marked the Aviators' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Charlie Stevens was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Stevens was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hasbrouck Heights got a massive performance out of Andy Victori, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those five runs gave Victori a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mario Jimenez, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Hackensack was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Eastside by a score of 2-1. The loss put an end to the Comets' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hackensack fell to 2-1. As for Hasbrouck Heights, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
