Softball Recap: Beardstown Triumphs

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. Beardstown walked away with an 8-4 win over Greenfield/Northwestern. The victory continues a trend for Beardstown in their matchups with Greenfield/Northwestern: they've now won three in a row.

Khloe Kearns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bella Palmer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Nu?ez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Beardstown now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beardstown will take on Macomb at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers are facing the Bombers at the right time seeing as the Bombers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they will square off against North Greene at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Spartans will have lost four straight heading into Thursday's game.
