Baseball Game Preview: Cathedral Prep Ramblers vs. Alhambra Lions

The Cathedral Prep Ramblers will face off against the Alhambra Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eight must be Cathedral Prep's lucky number: they beat Cesar Chavez with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Ramblers came out on top against the Champions by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ramblers.

Derick Friedman and Davin Friedman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Friedman pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Davin pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Friedman scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Davin scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Davin posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Costello, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Costello is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was AJ Sirianni, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Alhambra had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They skirted past the Hawks 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since March 12, 2024.

Alhambra's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Cathedral Prep, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
