Basketball Game Preview: Warren Central Warriors vs. Decatur Central Hawks

The Warren Central Warriors will head out to take on the Decatur Central Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Decatur Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Warren Central, who comes in off a win.

Warren Central is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Fort Wayne South Side: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Warriors blew the Archers out of the water with a 65-25 final score. The Warriors pushed the score to 53-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Archers had no chance of recovering from.

Warren Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was La'starr Williams, who shot 70% from beyond the arc to rack up 26 points. Those 26 points gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Denell Jacobs, who went 5-for-6 on her way to 16 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Decatur Central lost to Connersville on the road by a 70-52 margin on Saturday.

The win got Warren Central back to even at 1-1. As for Decatur Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Warren Central beat Decatur Central 50-42 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
