Baseball Recap: Manzano Monarchs vs. La Cueva Bears
Manzano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 16-5 to the La Cueva Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Saturday.
Aljaris Pineda was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Grant Lord, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Manzano now has a losing record of 7-8. As for La Cueva, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Manzano will head out to take on Sandia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Matadors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Monarchs surely won't give up without a fight. As for La Cueva, they will challenge Eldorado at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
