Baseball Recap: Wayne Academy Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Wayne Academy duked it out with Simpson Academy on Monday. The Jaguars fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 13-11. The Jaguars were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Tyler Wooten was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Moody, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Wayne Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Simpson Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 17-10.

While Wayne Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
