Basketball Game Preview: Westside Rams vs. Franklin County Lions

The Westside Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Franklin County Lions at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Westside will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Tuesday, Westside didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mauldin, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win.

Westside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kmajay Jenkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Jenkins is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jonovan Webb, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Franklin County had to suffer through a 79-44 loss at the hands of Cherokee Bluff. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Bears are ranked eighth).

Westside's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Franklin County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Westside lost to Franklin County on the road by a decisive 61-43 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2019. Can Westside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
