Football Game Preview: Fuquay - Varina Bengals vs. Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders + How To Watch

The Fuquay - Varina Bengals will head out to square off against the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fuquay - Varina is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Holly Springs 29-7. The contest was close at halftime, but the Bengals turned on the heat in the second half with 23 points.

Fuquay - Varina found their leader in sophomore Demetrius McKoy, who rushed for 130 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Those 130 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for McKoy.

Fuquay - Varina was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, while Cardinal Gibbons put up plenty of points two weeks ago, the same can't be said for Cary. The Crusaders breezed past the Imps to the tune of 46-0. The Crusaders' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Fuquay - Varina better keep an eye on Noah Terry. He was instrumental in Cardinal Gibbons' win, rushing for 58 yards and four TDs. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Terry a new career-high.

Cardinal Gibbons didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Truth Caesar and Skylar Alston.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Cardinal Gibbons, bringing their record up to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.4 points on average over those games. As for Fuquay - Varina, their record now sits at 5-6.
