Baseball Recap: Southwest SD Gets the Win

Southwest SD was forced to take a big loss against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Chula Vista Spartans by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Spartans on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-2 defeat.

Anthony Bejarano tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aquiles Lugo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Southwest SD's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-9-1 when he doesn't).

Southwest SD now has a winning record of 10-9-1. As for Chula Vista, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-7-2.

Looking ahead, Southwest SD will venture away from home to face off against Mar Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chula Vista, they will host Sweetwater at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
