Recap: O'Neill Eagles vs. Ord Chanticleers
The O'Neill Eagles entered their tilt with the Ord Chanticleers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. O'Neill walked away with a 63-52 win over Ord on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for O'Neill, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
O'Neill was led to victory by Turner Heiss and Drew Morrow. Heiss scored 20 points along with two steals, while Morrow almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Morrow pulled down eight or more rebounds. Trevor Alder was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Ord had strong showings from Blake Hinrichs, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds, and Colton Thompson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Thompson scored 15 or more points.
O'Neill's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Ord, they dropped their record down to 9-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. O'Neill will square off against Battle Creek at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in O'Neill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Ord, they will head out on the road to take on Ravenna at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
