Softball Recap: Dan River Has No Trouble Against Altavista

Dan River had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Altavista on Wednesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Colonels with a sharp 9-2 win. That looming 9-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Cara Barrett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Anna Campbell Stoler was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kenley Cundiff, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Dan River now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Altavista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
