Baseball Recap: Keystone Heights Gets the Win

Keystone Heights was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Baker County on Friday. Everything went the Keystone Heights Indians' way against the Baker County Wildcats as the Keystone Heights Indians made off with a 9-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Ethan Franklin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Franklin was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Austin Smith and Tallon Campbell did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Campbell scored a run while going 3-for-5. Destin Harnage was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Keystone Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Baker County only hit four hits.

Keystone Heights' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Baker County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Keystone Heights will head out to take on Interlachen at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Baker County, they are taking a road trip to square off against West Nassau at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
