Football Recap: Ithaca Takes a Loss

Ithaca managed to keep up with Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Bulldogs were dealt a 43-14 loss at the hands of Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Ithaca lost, don't look at Spencer Nelson. Despite the final result, he picked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Nelson showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 63 yards.

Cooper Lomas was nothing short of spectacular for Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca: he threw for 141 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 90.9% of his passes, and also punched in two scores on the ground. Lomas also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks, forcing one fumble, and making four total tackles.

Ithaca's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Ithaca has already played their next match, a 26-21 win against Hillsboro on the 5th. As for Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 40-20 victory against Iowa-Grant on the 5th.
