Softball Recap: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Sandia Prep Sundevils
East Mountain extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 26 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-25 in the process. They lost 20-6 to the Sandia Prep Sundevils. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Chaeli Lehocky made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
As for Sandia Prep, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-16. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Sandia Prep's side, Ozzi Rockey was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Rockey has posted since back in February. Mary Otero was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
East Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sandia Prep, they will challenge Ruidoso at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sundevils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
