Baseball Game Preview: Caldwell Redskins vs. River Pilots

Caldwell is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while River is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Redskins will host the Pilots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Caldwell 2.5, River 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Caldwell blew Buckeye Trail out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Buckeye Trail got their revenge. The Redskins fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redskins have suffered since March 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, River made easy work of Beallsville on Friday and carried off a 12-3 victory. The Pilots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

River is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Caldwell, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-2.

Caldwell was able to grind out a solid victory over River in their previous meeting back in April, winning 6-3. Do the Redskins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pilots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
