Recap: Cuthbertson Cavaliers vs. Weddington Warriors
The Cuthbertson Cavaliers lost against the Weddington Warriors back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cuthbertson was beaten by Weddington 62-14. Cuthbertson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Parker Burke threw for 167 yards and a touchdown. Logan Vail was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards. On the ground, Mason Iovino rushed for 29 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Cuthbertson and nudges their season record down to 6-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.0 points per game. As for Weddington, their win was their 14th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Cuthbertson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Weddington will head out on the road to face off against Marvin Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marvin Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Weddington is ranked fifth).
