Football Recap: South Sioux City Comes Up Short

South Sioux City and Sioux City West pushed the score to 49-26 the last time they played Sioux City West, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Cardinals fell 19-7 to the Wolverines. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cardinals came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 113th in Nebraska, while the Wolverines are ranked 237th in Iowa).

Cristian Campos threw for 153 yards and one touchdown. Jonathan Garcia-Lupercio was his top target, picking up 76 receiving yards. On the ground, Taye Mekhai Baker rushed for 87 yards.

South Sioux City's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sioux City West, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

South Sioux City wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 20-12 victory against Bryan on the 12th. Sioux City West has also already played their next game (against Sioux City North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
