Soccer Game Preview: Smithville vs. Giddings

Smithville is 2-8 against Giddings since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Smithville Tigers will square off against the Giddings Buffaloes at 5:15 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Smithville is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against La Grange on Tuesday. Smithville fell 2-0 to La Grange. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Giddings managed to keep up with Salado until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Giddings lost 4-0 to Salado. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Giddings' loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Smithville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Smithville might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Giddings when the teams last played back in January. Can Smithville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
