Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Triumphs

Elk Grove saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Kerman Lions.

Anthony Bascherini looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Hudson Hall and Tristen Bartlett did most of the damage at the plate: Hall went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Bartlett went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That's the most RBI Hall has posted since back in April of 2024. Chase Groves was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Elk Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Elk Grove's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Kerman, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7-1.

Elk Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Clovis East on the 15th. As for Kerman, they will be taking part in a tournament against Placer at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hillmen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
