Basketball Recap: Waterford Takes a Loss

Waterford came up into this matchup off a tough 22-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the East Lyme Vikings by a score of 45-42 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-46 back in January.

East Lyme's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Timpano led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Timpano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tanner O'Brien, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Waterford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points over those games. As for East Lyme, their record is now 8-9.

Waterford has already played their next game (against Killingly), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for East Lyme, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-63 win against Fitch on the 7th.
