Mountain View extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 11-5. They put the hurt on the Arroyo Knights with a sharp 11-4 win. Considering the Vikings have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
ALEX MORENO was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was EDER SALES, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arroyo only posted a batting average of .222.
As for Arroyo, their record now sits at 9-7. Knights fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Mountain View since Friday.
On Arroyo's side, Noah Fonseca put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fonseca has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fonseca wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Riley MacMillan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Arroyo is 4-1 when MacMillan posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Alessandro Lozano was another, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will challenge South El Monte at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Arroyo, they will square off against El Monte at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
