Basketball Recap: River City Believers Academy Soldiers vs. Gloria Deo Academy Lions
River City Believers Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Gloria Deo Academy Lions at home by a 45-27 margin on Monday. The Soldiers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Defeat or not, River City Believers Academy got some senior leadership from Trevor Smith and Brennen McGuire. Smith had nine points along with two steals, while McGuire scored six points plus five rebounds and four steals.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River City Believers Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on First Baptist Academy at 3:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for Gloria Deo Academy, they will be defending their home-court for the first time this season they go up against Geneva at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
