Basketball Recap: New Bern Christian Academy vs. Pungo Christian Academy Raiders
New Bern Christian Academy struggled with assists on Friday (the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. New Bern Christian Academy was dealt a 59-23 defeat at the hands of the Raiders. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Bern Christian Academy has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why New Bern Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is KC Peter. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Peter hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pungo Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quay Artis, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and two steals. Artis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Garrish, who scored five points along with 17 rebounds and eight assists.
New Bern Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Pungo Christian Academy, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2.
New Bern Christian Academy is on the road again on Monday and plays the Heat at 8:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Liberty Christian Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Colts at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Albemarle School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 692nd, while the Raiders are ranked 326th).
