Baseball Game Preview: Chattanooga Christian Chargers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Chattanooga Christian Chargers will head out to square off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Chattanooga Christian will be strutting in after a win while Notre Dame will be coming in after a loss.

Chattanooga Christian will bounce into Friday's game after beating McCallie, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Chargers blew past the Blue Tornado 14-7 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Keegan Nieckula and Owen Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Nieckula went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Brown scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most stolen bases Brown has posted since back in March. Andrew Petty was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Chattanooga Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Silverdale Academy.

Notre Dame saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Sullivan, who scored two runs while going 1-for-5.

Chattanooga Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Chattanooga Christian skirted past Notre Dame 7-6 in their previous matchup on Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
