Volleyball Recap: Conotton Valley Starts off Right with Win over East Canton

Conotton Valley had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the East Canton Hornets. That's more bragging rights for the Rockets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Conotton Valley was: they took every set by at least 17 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-5, 25-6.

Leading Conotton Valley to victory were Maddi Kelley and Delilah Williams. Kelley had 19 aces and three digs, while Williams had 37 assists and four aces. The dominant performance also gave Kelley a new career-high in hitting percentage (66.7%).

East Canton is on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Conotton Valley and East Canton will both be playing Claymont the next time they take the court. The Rockets will head out to face the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Hornets will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
