Volleyball Recap: Goleman Starts Season with Victory Against Dr. Krop

Goleman took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Dr. Krop Lightning 3-0. The Gators were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Lightning, so the Gators were just returning the favor.

While Goleman won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-12, 28-26.

Goleman can attribute much of their success to Sophia Heras, who had 15 digs and one assist. Those 15 digs gave Heras a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Bergolla, who had 12 digs.

Goleman was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Goleman will face off against Palmetto at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dr. Krop, they will challenge MAST Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
