Softball Recap: Morgan Starts Season with Victory Against Cyprus

Morgan had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Cyprus Pirates on Wednesday. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered an 8-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lexi Hardman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Peterson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Hardman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Morgan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cyprus only managed three hits.

Cyprus' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Coincidentally, Morgan and Cyprus will both be playing Syracuse the next time they take the field. Morgan will head out to face Syracuse at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, while Cyprus will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
