Recap: Brunswick Academy vs. Virginia Episcopal School

Brunswick Academy faced Virginia Episcopal School in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything came up roses for Virginia Episcopal School against Brunswick Academy on Friday as the team secured a 46-6 victory. Virginia Episcopal School were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

The contest started off well for Virginia Episcopal School, whose offense put up 40 first-half points. Meanwhile, Brunswick Academy couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 40-0 heading into the break. The Virginia Episcopal School defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the contest.

No one put up better numbers for Virginia Episcopal School than senior Aaron Staggers, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 101 yards and 3 touchdowns. In fact, with 12 tackles Staggers was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Huntley Davenport, who racked up 16 tackles. Virginia Episcopal School added further sheen to their flawless record, now 4-0. The loss dropped Brunswick Academy's record to 1-5.

Virginia Episcopal School will be playing at home against Covenant at at 2:00 PM next week. As for Brunswick Academy, they will face off against St. Anne's-Belfield. St. Anne's-Belfield have averaged 42 points over the course of their past three games, so Brunswick Academy might be in for a challenge.
