Softball Recap: St. Marys Has No Trouble Against Dubois Central Catholic

St. Marys had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt DuBois Central Catholic on Monday. The Flying Dutch put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 7-1 win. The Flying Dutch might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Avery Eckels made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Eckels was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kelsie Fledderman, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Molly Hanslovan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

St. Marys' record now sits at 10-1. As for DuBois Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Coming up, St. Marys will square off against Lake-Lehman at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for DuBois Central Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Clarion-Limestone at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
