Hinsdale South posted their closest win since March 18th on Monday. They skirted past the Leyden Eagles 7-5. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kayla Buckels-Meen and Alex Kuhlman did most of the damage at the plate: Buckels-Meen went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Kuhlman went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits Kuhlman has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Bishop, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Hinsdale South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .380 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Hinsdale South's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-22-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Leyden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Hinsdale South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Leyden, they will challenge Addison Trail at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
