Recap: Italy Gladiators vs. Rio Vista Eagles
There's no place like home for the Italy Gladiators, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Rio Vista 41-26 on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Italy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Italy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Landry Janek out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Amyriah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Rio Vista had strong showings from Shiloh Johnson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds, and Addy Halvorson, who scored six points. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.
Italy's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Rio Vista, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-23.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Italy will take on Frost at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Frost focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Rio Vista, they will head out on the road to take on Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Rio Vista likes a good challenge.
