Preview: Johnson Atomsmashers vs. Long County Blue Tide
The Johnson Atomsmashers will head out on the road to face off against the Long County Blue Tide at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Johnson nor Long County posted many points in their last games could muster much offensive firepower in their last games.
Johnson fell victim to Savannah Country Day's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Hornets, falling 30-0. While losing is never fun, Johnson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Savannah Country Day is ranked 178th).
Meanwhile, Long County also failed to score in their most recent game. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of Calvary Day on Friday. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Johnson has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Long County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Johnson suffered a grim 38-14 defeat to Long County when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Johnson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
