Baseball Recap: Mattamuskeet Comes Up Short

Mattamuskeet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 last Tuesday.

Mattamuskeet saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Lewark, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Mattamuskeet's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Cape Hatteras, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mattamuskeet will face off against Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.55 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cape Hatteras, they will take on Bear Grass Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight.
