Softball Recap: Hozho Academy's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hozho Academy entered their tilt with Northwest on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Falcons 21-0. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mia Baca made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two triples, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hozho Academy got a massive performance out of Mika Jai, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave Jai a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Teanna Rosales, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Hozho Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .682. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hozho Academy's win bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Northwest, their loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-18.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hozho Academy beat the Falcons by a score of 24-2 later that day.
