Softball Recap: Anaheim's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Anaheim dropped their record down to 20-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Santiago Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat back in April.

Anaheim saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Chavez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

As for Santiago, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won 12 contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

On Santiago's side, Ihilani B made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. B was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nayelli D, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Khalia B was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As of now, neither Anaheim nor Santiago have any future games scheduled.
