Softball Recap: St. Bernard's Has No Trouble Against Portola

St. Bernard's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Portola Tigers with a sharp 14-2 win. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Sahara Tupua and Makinsey Lemley did most of the damage at the plate: Tupua scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Lemley scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Tupua is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyna Tupua, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

St. Bernard's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

St. Bernard's moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Portola, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-1.

St. Bernard's didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-1 win against Modoc on the 22nd. As for Portola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-4 victory against CORE Butte on the 21st.
