Baseball Game Preview: Bryant Owls vs. Middle College Panthers

For the second straight game, Bryant will face off against Middle College. The Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bryant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Bryant made easy work of Middle College and carried off an 8-2 victory. Considering the Owls have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Christian Cepin and Joseph Garcia were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cepin struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Garcia struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Cepin went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Garcia got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Cepin is becoming a predictor of Bryant's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmanuel Pichardo, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Bryant is undefeated when Pichardo posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Middle College is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7. As for Bryant, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
