Basketball Recap: Cape Coral Comes Up Short

Cape Coral and Port Charlotte squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Cape Coral had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Port Charlotte Pirates, falling 61-11. The Seahawks have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Port Charlotte got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rihanna Rosario out in front who posted 13 points and three steals. What's more, Rosario also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Gipson, who had 11 points and three steals.

Cape Coral's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Port Charlotte, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-7.

Cape Coral does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Charlotte, they will take on St. Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Port Charlotte's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
