If Gilmer wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Calhoun, they should've done a better job of containing Trace Hawkins. The Yellow Jackets really took it to the Bobcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-44 win for which the team can thank Hawkins, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 15 points. His big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Calhoun has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 30 points thus far. As for Gilmer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Calhoun and Rockmart will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets will be up against the Yellowjackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 71.29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Gilmer, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-52 loss against Fannin County on the 13th.
