Softball Recap: Sheboygan South Takes a Loss

Sheboygan South had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it 17. They came up short against the Green Bay Preble Hornets, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on Tuesday.

As for Green Bay Preble, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 13-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.4 runs this season.

For Green Bay Preble's part, Tenley Kuehn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Kuehn has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Green Bay Preble got a massive performance out of Hannah VonHaden, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave VonHaden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Savage, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheboygan South will welcome Plymouth at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Green Bay Preble, they will host Ashwaubenon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hornets 0.8, the Jaguars 0.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
