Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Piketon Redstreaks

The Eastern Eagles and the Piketon Redstreaks will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Piketon took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastern, who comes in off a win.

Eastern is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 75-40 stomp they got against Huntington. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Huntsmen are ranked 694th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Piketon ended up a good deal behind Western on Friday and lost 66-47.

Eastern's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Piketon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Eastern strolled past Piketon in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 58-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
