Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Christian Takes a Loss

Hillcrest Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oakwood Owls. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 726th, while the Owls are ranked 341st).

Hillcrest Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Oakwood, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Hillcrest Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Santa Clara at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hillcrest Christian is facing Santa Clara at the right time seeing as Santa Clara is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Oakwood, they and Heritage Christian will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oakwood comes in on four and Heritage Christian on 11.
