Rock Island unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Orion/Sherrard United on Thursday, falling 3-0. The match was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for Rock Island it sure didn't stay that way.

The win got Orion/Sherrard back to even at 1-1.

Rock Island didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-1 victory against LaSalle-Peru on the 24th. As for Orion/Sherrard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 7-1 win against Mendota on the 22nd.
